How it works

How Sporttics works

Sporttics lets you pass on a race entry you can’t use, or take over someone else’s. The name change is made with the race organiser, and we hold the buyer’s money until the transfer is confirmed.

  • The buyer’s money is held until the transfer is confirmed
  • Only races whose organiser allows it
  • Never above face value

From listing to race day

Who does what, in order.

  1. SellerSporttics

    The seller lists the entry

We check the race’s rules first: if the organiser doesn’t allow resale through us, the entry can’t be listed. The price can’t be above what the runner paid. The seller uploads their registration confirmation; only we and the organiser can open it.

  2. BuyerSporttics

The buyer pays, and we hold the money

The buyer pays the asking price plus the Sporttics fee of CHF 6.00, by card or TWINT. The seller gets nothing yet: the money stays with Sporttics.

  3. SellerOrganiser

The seller makes the name change

The seller transfers the entry in the organiser’s own system, using the participant details the buyer entered. If the race charges a transfer fee, it is paid to the organiser there; each listing says who pays it.

  4. OrganiserBuyerSporttics

The transfer is confirmed, then the seller is paid

Confirmation comes from the organiser or the buyer, or from a registration reference the seller records. Only then is the money released. The table below shows how.

  5. Buyer

    Race day

The buyer’s name is on the start list. If the entry isn’t transferred by the race’s deadline, the buyer gets everything back, the Sporttics fee included.

When the seller is paid

Sporttics never pays a seller on their word alone. What releases the money depends on who confirms the transfer.

If the buyer reports a problem, the payment is frozen until a person at Sporttics has decided.

Which races we list

Organisers set the rules for their entries. We follow them.

  • The organiser agrees

Entries are listed. Partner races go further: see below.

  • The organiser forbids it

Some organisers forbid transfers through third parties or run their own exchange. We don’t list those entries and point you to the organiser instead.

  • Rules not published

The seller is asked to check with the organiser that the entry can be transferred before listing it.

Transfer rules for each race

Partner races

Some organisers work with us directly. For their races:

  • Every sale reaches the organiser’s desk with the new participant’s details.
  • The organiser confirms the name change with one click, and the seller is paid.
  • A listing goes live only once the seller has uploaded the registration confirmation.

What a listing can claim

Each listing shows how far its entry has been checked. A badge never claims more than we can show.

Check in progress
