Safety Tips

Follow these guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth experience buying or selling race entries.

Verify the Transfer Policy

Before buying, always check the event's transfer policy. Transfer rules vary - some events allow official name changes, others don't. Make sure you understand what you're getting.

Pay only through Sporttics

Buy through Sporttics checkout, by card or TWINT. Your payment is held until the transfer is confirmed and refunded if it does not happen. Never pay a seller directly by bank transfer, TWINT or cash — that payment is not held and we cannot get it back.

Keep Payment Records

Screenshot your payment confirmation and save all communication. This protects you if any disputes arise.

Communicate Through Sporttics

Keep all conversations on the platform. This protects both buyers and sellers and creates a record of agreements.

Understand the Transfer Process

Know how the entry will be transferred. If official transfer is available, use it. If not, understand that you may race under the seller's name.

Check Deadlines

Many events have transfer deadlines (usually 2-6 weeks before race day). Check the listing's transfer status and make sure there's enough time.

Check Seller Profiles

Look at the seller's profile, ratings, and history. Verified sellers with previous successful transactions are more trustworthy.

Fair Pricing

Sporttics does not allow entries to be listed above their face value. This keeps the marketplace fair and prevents scalping. Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true.

About Payments

Purchases are paid through Sporttics and processed by Stripe. The payment is held until the organiser or the buyer confirms the transfer, and refunded in full, including the Sporttics fee, if the entry is not transferred by the race’s deadline. A buyer who is not on the start list can report a problem, which stops the payout until a person has looked at it.

Report Suspicious Activity

If something feels off — a price too good to be true, pressure to communicate outside the platform, requests for untraceable payment, or unwillingness to use the official transfer process — trust your instincts and report the listing. Contact us at [email protected].

Red Flags to Watch For

  • • Pressure to pay immediately or with cash
  • • Price significantly below market value
  • • Vague or evasive answers about the transfer process
  • • Seller can't provide proof of registration
